Chiropractors are trained in manual adjustments that can be applied to the spine and other joints of the body to help relieve pain and restore normal functioning to the spine, joints and supporting structures of the body – so you can enjoy your everyday activities again as quickly as possible.

SOFT TISSUE / MUSCLE RELEASE

  • Soft tissue work is used as an adjunct to chiropractic care to aid in improving the quality of the soft tissue structures. This can help relieve tissue tension and spasm and allow the tissues to function at a more optimal level. The term soft tissue refers to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and the joint capsule.

DRY NEEDLING

  • Dry needling is a technique that is effective and efficient in the treatment of muscular pain and myofascial dysfunction.

The treatment involves targeting muscle trigger points, a sensitive area within a taut band of a skeletal muscle that is painful on compression or muscle contraction. The approach is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles. Dry needling should not to be confused with the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) technique of acupuncture. However, the same needles are used in both. Dry needling is based purely on treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and is not used for treating other conditions as TCM is.

WEBSTER TECHNIQUE

  • The Webster Technique, is a specific chiropractic technique for pregnant women. It is a chiropractic technique designed to assist in pelvic alignment by balancing of the the pelvis and sacrum.

The Webster Technique involves analysis of the pelvis and correction of abnormal biomechanics through the use of releases and mobilisations of the sacrum and other pelvic structures. It also involves analysis and release of tension of abdominal muscles and round ligaments caused by pelvic misalignment. It is an extremely gentle and effective technique.

    Amy is Webster Certified.

KINESIO/RIGID TAPING

  • A therapeutic taping technique that utilises hypoallergenic kinesio tape (K-Tape) to help alleviate pain, aid in functional support while allowing full range of motion, which may allow for body awareness improvements, improvements in slide and glide between tissue layers and is thought to help improve blood and lympathic drainage over the taped area.

Alongside K-Tape, rigid strapping tape is utilised for a robust supportive taping method to help in the stabilisation of joints during acute injuries such as ligament sprains, muscle strains, joint instability and inflammation. This method is ideal for when movements should be restricted with firm support.

Our chiropractors provide exercise rehabilitation tailored to your needs to help you recover from injury and aim to prevent re-injury.
